There are at least 500 groups that were illegally targeted by the White House, so I’m sure we’re going to be reading a lot of these in the coming days. But this one is simply astounding. The IRS apparently targeted several pro-life groups, even going so far as to…

Can someone tell me when the IRS gained the power to limit freedom of assembly?

This is just as disturbing as hell. There’s no freedom of speech, assembly, etc, at all if those rights only apply to people who are on the right side of the current administration—whatever it is.

Remember kids: The government doesn’t need encouragement to protect speech it agrees with.

This entire article seems to be based on yet another case of misinformation. Depending on their tax exempt status (as determined by the IRS) they aren’t allowed to engage in political activity. I believe picketing in front of an abortion clinic to be political activity and thus, would exclude them from a certain tax exempt status. Goodness gracious. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=184559283

8-years ago, CHP Officer Kevin Briggs talked this young man out of jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge. That young man’s name is Kevin Berthia. Today he is 30 years old and married with 2 children. This week he presented Officer Briggs with an award on behalf of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The story of how Officer Briggs talked Kevin down is remarkable. As you can see in the picture, Kevin is literally one step away from jumping to his death. But for more than hour, the officer listened to Kevin pour his heart out about his troubles and told him, “I know you think things are bad, but they can get better.”Kevin says, “Officer Briggs never made me feel guilty for the situation I was in. He made feel like, I understand why you are here, but there are alternatives”Kevin is just one of countless lives Briggs has saved over his 23 year career.Briggs, who was promoted to Sergeant five years ago, is humble about what he does. He says, ”they make the decision, when they step back over that rail it takes a tremendous amount of courage”I salute Sergeant Briggs!Photo: The San Francisco Chronicle, John Storey

You must have caught the extensive coverage of this on the evening news…….. Oh.. pardon me, it was ignored….not consistent with the Press’ views of gun ownership. ANTI-GUN SENATOR SHOOTS INTRUDER One more reason to vote all of them out of office. (Embedded image moved to file: pic01338.jpg) State Senator R.C. Soles (D - NC) Long time Anti-Gun Advocate State Senator R.C. Soles, 74, shot one of two intruders at his home just outside Tabor City , N.C. about 5 p.m. Sunday, the prosecutor for the politician’s home county said. The intruder, Kyle Blackburn, was taken to a South Carolina hospital, but the injuries were not reported to be life-threatening, according to Rex Gore, district attorney for Columbus, Bladen andBrunswick counties.. The State Bureau of Investigation and Columbus County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the shooting, Gore said. Soles, who was not arrested, declined to discuss the incident Sunday evening. “I am not in a position to talk to you,” Soles said by telephone. “I’m right in the middle of an investigation.” The Senator, who has made a career of being against gun ownership for the general public, didn’t hesitate to defend himself with his own gun when he believed he was in immediate danger and he was the victim. In typical hypocritical liberal fashion, the “Do as i say and not as i do” Anti-Gun Activist Lawmaker picked up his gun and took action in what apparently was a self-defense shooting. Why hypocritical you may ask? It is because his long legislative record shows that the actions that he took to protect his family, his own response to a dangerous life threatening situation, are actions that he feels ordinary citizens should not have if they were faced with an identical situation. It has prompted some to ask if the Senator believes his life and personal safety is more valuable than yours or mine. But, this is to be expected from those who believe they can run our lives, raise our kids, and protect our families better than we can.

I find that^ to be a good deal more reliable than the previous source-less rant. I suggest we use reason and critical thinking in our arguments if we hope to win them.
